Your Career Option
In this program, you will learn and acquire specialized knowledge and practical skills required to function as a Pharmaceutical Production Technician or Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technician in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, food, cosmetics, natural product, nutraceutical and other life-science industries. Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technicians responsible for implementing the strict and stringent processes and proceures involved in the fabrication of dosage forms of medicines such as tablets, capsules, injectables, creams, ointments , coated tablets and pellets etc. They implent these proceudere with knowledge of pharmaceutical equipment, documentation proceurdes and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Manufacturing Technicians are also involved in the trouble-shooting and maintenance of production equipment to assure minimum sanitary conditions are met at all times. The success of the Company is invariably dependent on the GMP compliance of the products they manufacture and the skill of the manufacturing team. Graduates of this program enjoy a high percentage employment rate and work for both multinational and generic company employers such as GSK, Apotex, Biovail, Teva, Patheon, Novopharm, AstraZeneca, Pharmascience, Amgen, and Taro pharmaceuticals. They also find employment in biopharmaceutical, biotechnology and advanced-drug delivery companies.
Our Program
The Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Technology diploma is a unique program that provides education, intensive hands-on training, extensive GMP compliance skills and troubleshooting techniques. The program entails an intensive series of learning modules developed to enable a practical understanding of the various pharmaceutical manufacturing procedures . While the primary emphasis is on solid dosage forms, a substantial amount of time is also spent on liquids, creams and packaging. You will acquire knowledge of North American drug manufacturing standards and GMP procedures and practices for medicines.
Practical Experience (Integrated Co-op)
A unique and highly successful aspect of our program is our hands-on approach which provides the opportunity for students to apply and integrate their knowledge in a "real-world" work setting under GMP. You will receive practical experience in a one-of-kind GMP approved pilot plant where you will process and understand the processing of various pharmaceutical dosage forms. Throughout the program, various practical projects expose the student to pharmaceutical industry formulations and documentation syetems and lets students apply their skills and knowledge in a real-world work setting.
Admission Requirements
- A minimum Grade 12 with Math and Science
- Internationally-educated individuals must have their qualifications evaluated by one of the following - International Credential Assessment Service, University of Toronto Comparative Education Service or World Education Service.
- Meeting the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.
